EarthPres

EarthPres is a module in Shoring Suite. It is a powerful computer program that can analyze the lateral earth pressures on a retaining structure. Based on Wedge analysis, Log Spiral, and Coulomb’s equations, both active and passive pressure cases can be analyzed and computed. EarthPres can handle all kinds of irregular surface conditions that classical equations or conventional chart methods cannot handle.

EarthPres can determine active, passive, and at-rest earth pressures. and then show pressure diagrams and failure surface. The program can determine the earthquake-induced pressure on walls using two methods: the Mononobe-Okabe method (recommended by AASHTO) and the Pseudo-dynamic method. The program also handles water pressure at verity conditions such as seepage or no-seepage, and bottom seal conditions.

Wall friction is considered in the calculations. The pressure distribution, maximum pressure, total force, and failure wedge are determined and can be viewed instantly. The output can be exported to Shoring by a mouse click. This program is also included in the Shoring Suite package.

FEATURES

  • Sloped ground surface
  • Pressure diagrams and failure surface
  • Earthquake pressures
  • Active, Passive, and at-rest pressures
  • The output is integrated into Shoring program
  • Choice of at rest, Ko and active, Ka
  • Earthquake load by Mononobe-Okabe method

Surcharge

Surcharge is a module in Shoring Suite. It calculates lateral pressure on a vertical retaining system due to surcharge loads. The program uses the Boussinesq equation and is modified by experimentation (after Terzaghi and Teng). It is recommended by USS design manual and NAVY DM7.

The surcharge loads can be point loads, line loads, strip loads, area loads, or a combination of all the loads. The loads can be above or below ground surface. In version 8, A railroad Loading, E-80 Cooper, is added to the program.

Surcharge gives a pressure diagram and prints the pressure changes with the depth. Instant views and hard copies are available. It is useful for the design and analysis of retaining walls, shoring walls, basement walls, and any flexible wall or rigid wall. This program is also included in the Shoring Suite package. The output can be exported to Shoring by a mouse click.

FEATURES

  • Point Load, Line Load, Strip Load and Area Load
  • Combinations of up to 20 different loadings
  • Handle loads above or below ground surface
  • The output is integrated into Shoring program
  • Pressure diagram and data output
  • E-80 Cooper Railroad Loading

Heave

Heave is a module in Shoring Suite. It determines the stability of a vertical cut (excavation) in soft soils. Multiple layers, different water tables, and surcharge loads are taken into account. Heave can handle up to 5 different soil layers with surcharge loads, and different water tables inside and outside braced cuts. If hard stratum is encountered, the failure surface can be automatically adjusted through weak soils alone.

Heave uses Terzaghi’s method. The factor of safety will be calculated and the failure surface will be presented graphically. This program is also included in Shoring Suite.

FEATURES

  • Windows Version
  • Calculates Quickly
  • Easy to use
  • English and Metric Units
  • User’s manual with examples
